Woodkiln workshop
In this workshop we will discuss every aspect of firing ceramics using wood as fuel.
By the end of the two-days workshop you will understand how we built our woodkiln so you feel confident to build yours. We will also make a firing together so you can experience the rhythm and labor of it all.

Theory
What is a wood-firing kiln? Characteristics of this kind of kilns and development in history. Types and classification depending on fuel and draft. Kiln parts. Functioning of a wood kiln. Loading, layout, tools, and temperature control. Temperature curves. Kiln atmosphere (reduction or oxidation). Types of wood and how to prepare it. How to build your own wood kiln. Plans and improvements.
Practice
Complete wood-firing in our kiln, from start to finish: loading the pieces, warming up, reaching temperature, cooling down, and unloading the pieces the next day.

Due to the handmade nature, each piece is unique and will vary from the photo. Variations are inherent to our craft and are a guarantee of the artisanal process.
